A Qualitative Study on Mental Health Apps

This project examined how mental health apps can better support university students, focusing on user motivations, needs, and behavioral barriers. We conducted in-depth interviews and thematic analysis to identify patterns around engagement, trust, and value perception.

I was involved in all stages of the research process, from participant recruitment and interview design to transcription, coding, and insight synthesis. Key findings included friction points like screen fatigue, paywall frustration, and lack of personalization; alongside clear opportunities for improved accessibility, adaptive content, and emotional relevance.

The study resulted in strategic recommendations for product design and service logic, helping inform more inclusive, affordable, and user-aligned solutions in the mental health tech space.
